SCHTA Board Members

Toni Starks McNeal

President

Toni is an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist in Columbia, South Carolina. She currently works for Palmetto Health USC Orthopedic Center and is the Manager of Outpatient Services for 7 locations around Columbia. She lectures for both the USC DPT program and for the Palmetto Health USC Residency Program and would like to continue to develop a CHT mentoring program at PH USC Ortho for upcoming OT's. Toni has been practicing upper extremity orthopedics for 11 years in the Columbia area. She has served as treasurer and president of the SCHTA over the last 6 years. Toni is originally from upstate New York however, has lived in South Carolina for almost 25 years. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and pets.


Mary Simpson

Vice President

Mary Simpson OTR/L, CHT is a 1988 OT graduate of Cleveland State University.  Mary worked at Metro Health Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center and then the Cleveland Clinic.  She obtained her CHT in 2000. She worked covering orthopedic and plastic surgery hand clinics with the hand /UE surgeons and treating UE patients. 

Mary and her husband, Terry moved to Anderson South Carolina in September of 2006.  Mary and Terry loves to golf and take their 2 dogs, Prancer and Baby Momma In golf vacation adventures.

In South Carolina, Mary has worked in outpatient UE rehab from 2006 until January 2019.  Mary began working for AnMed Health Rehabilitation Hospital In September 2015 as the OT Team lead. With the closing of outpatient therapy at the rehab hospital in January 2019,  Mary has taken on additional responsibility for Physician Credentialing and privileges, working with the Quality and Risk Management Director to complete 2 successful Joint Commission Surveys.  One for disease specific Stroke and hip and the other the 3-year Re accreditation.  Mary trains new OTs, including UE care for orthopedic and neurological conditions and continues to treat patients.

Mary has served on the South Carolina Hand Therapy Association board as Vice President since 2014. 

Amy Ray

Secretary

Amy is a 1993 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina. Born in Columbia, SC, she currently resides in Hopkins, SC with husband of 26 years and 2 boys. Her occupational therapy experience includes: inpatient acute care / rehabilitation, home health and outpatient orthopedics. She became a Certified Hand Therapist in 2009. She is currently employed with Amedisys Home Health, Camden office. Amy serves as the SC Hand Therapy Association Board secretary. She recently completed Certification to become a Lymphedema therapist. Amy enjoys many hobbies that include being outdoors, gardening, working out, and directing a summer mission project.

Marc Bartholdi OTD, OTR/L, CHT

Board Member at Large 1

Marc is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy and a fellowship trained certified hand therapist with over 20 years of experience in upper extremity evaluation, treatment, program development and management. He has worked in many settings of hand and upper extremity rehabilitation and has established hand therapy programs for hospitals, orthopedic practices, private therapy practices, and corporations. Marc relocated to Fort Mill, SC with his family in 2015 and established the first hand therapy program in Fort Mill. Marc has also lectured to various groups on assessment for upper extremity peripheral nerve injuries, complex regional pain syndrome, common hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions, and orthotic fabrication and management. He is also an active member of American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT), American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and South Carolina Occupational Therapy Association (SCOTA). On a personal level, Marc enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children, kayaking, and biking.
